What Works
We know there are many barriers to student attendance in Baltimore including: health issues, transportation, unstable housing, bullying, lack of engagement in school and more. We also know that students who attend school on time, every day are more likely to thrive in school and to graduate from high school. It is with this in mind that Grade Level Reading (GLR) works closely with the Attendance Collaborative, a group made up of different City Schools departments and community partners all working to decrease chronic absenteeism in the city. This group is led by the Family League of Baltimore.
