Transitions

We created a chance for participants to engage in conversations between their organizations to identify similarities across curriculums and opportunities for deeper collaboration.

Baltimore Infants & Toddlers

The Baltimore City Health Department is coordinating a strategic planning process to improve services from Baltimore Infants and Toddlers.

Pre-K Enrollment

We partnered with BCPS and B’ more for Healthy Babies to maximize the number of low-income children that register for Pre-K.

Getting to School

Success Coaches

Success Coaches was implemented in 3 schools this year. With an average week increase of instruction from last year.

Small Challenge Grants

The Baltimore School Climate Collaborative gave grants to schools to help test strategies to improve either end of year or beginning of year attendance for younger grades.

In-School

Assessments

We worked with Baltimore City Public Schools’ Office of Teaching and Learning to create a video that explains what each of these tests measures and how parents can use the scores to help their children.

Tutoring Analysis

We compiled an analysis of different tutoring programs available to schools in Baltimore City and assessed their effectiveness to inform City Schools’ expansion of tutoring programs.

Afterschool/ Summer

Summer Reading

we worked in partnership with Baltimore City Public Schools and the Enoch Pratt Free Library to host a Professional Development Day for over 70 Pratt Librarians and School Librarians to come together and plan to how to promote summer Reading.

In the Community

Book Distribution

We connected Coalition partners, including DSS, WIC sites, Baltimore Infants and Toddlers and Little Free Library hosts to distribute over 12,000 books.

Little Free Libraries

Last year, the Campaign installed 5 Little Free Libraries in Cherry Hill and Reservoir Hill as a way to increase access to books and encourage family engagement in reading over the summer. The Little Free Libraries were a success, giving out over 1,000 books this year. As a result, we installed six more this spring.

At Home

Daily Reading Materials

Through workshops with parents, we created Brochures, Posters, Post-its, Stickers, Videos, Website to promote reading.
